Warning issued over smoking signageWarning issued over smoking signage
21 June, 2007
Pubs urged to get organised before July 1.
Licensees are being warned to get their signage prepared for the smoking ban on July 1.
Tony Payne, chief executive of the Federation of Licensed Victuallers’ Associations, has issued a stark warning to pubs to make sure they have enough signs for every exit.
Under the regulations every pub exit must use the standard poster warning customers “No Smoking. It is against the law to smoke in these premises.”
However, the government has sent out packs to every business with guidance and two poster. Pubs with more than two exits will need to contact Smokefreeengland to ensure they have enough for the first day of the ban.
Payne said: “There are a lot of pubs that don’t have enough signage. Licensees need to check their packs to make sure they have enough signage.”
For details go to www.smokefreeengland.com where posters can be downloaded.
