Pubs urged to get water wise to save moneyPubs urged to get water wise to save money
Do you know your 'water footprint'?
Pubs are being urged to take note of their “water footprint” to ensure they are not using – and paying for – more water than they should.
Water charges across Whitbread’s Brewers Fayre estate have dropped by £125,000 over the past five years as a result of putting a water management system from specialist Waterscan in place.
Moves pubs can make to cut water consumption include regularly auditing your pub to check for leaks, and introducing water recycling in the form of rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling.
Neil Pendle, managing director of Waterscan, said: “Reducing your water footprint should be as high on the business agenda as minimising costs or helping the environment. And in today’s financial and environmental climate, who can afford not to maximise profits or take green issues seriously?”
