Music and food to take over on July 1

Music and food to take over on July 1

By Daniel Pearce

Midlands licensees move early to combat the changeover

Customers at one Midlands pub will be urged to tap their feet and clap their hands on July 1 – and forget about the smoking ban.

Village local the Butchers Arms in King’s Sutton in Northamptonshire has invited in local musician Billy John to take customers’ minds off of the ban.

New licensees Alan and Julie Newman have also put food back on the menu at the pub ahead of July 1.

Alan said: “I want to show to my customers, that banning smoking does not mean they will not have a good time in their local in the company of their friends.

“The end of smoking in pubs presents us with a once in a lifetime opportunity to encourage even more locals to come and find out what a proper pub selling proper beer is really like.”

The couple have also added new benches and tables to the Hook Norton pub’s garden – alongside and existing aviary, which includes budgies, canaries and cockatiels.
