Wheatsheaf Away 15 th JuneMixed night last night, we started well setting 20 which the Wheatsheaf only managed to reply with 12. Second Leg we set 17, Wheatsheaf hit back with 21. They followed this up by setting us 21 in the 3rd leg and we only managed 18. A 2-1 defeat, though we did manage to win the Beer Leg again so it's 4 from 4 on that front
Top scores were Allan Davies and Nick Band with 10 each, though Nick owes the 3rd leg caller a Beer!!
James Morrison made his debut in this game, no nerves as he is proving as good as Cosmo already!!
Next Friday 22nd June Home to Crown A Chalgrove.

Lucky escape on Friday, only a Blob from the Crown's Anchorman gave us a 3-3 draw. We took the first leg after the Crown set, we set in the second and were beaten, the third we were put in by the Crown and managed a miserly 11, helped by a blob from yours truly !! First blob for a couple of years. The Crown seemed to be coasting with only one needed off the anchor, luckily for us he didn't find the target and the match was drawn.
More bad news ensued as we lost our first beer leg of the season
That's 4:1 in our favour now.
Next week Tiddington CC away.

Caught out by Tiddington Cricket ClubThis Friday saw a defeat by 5:1 at Tiddington CC.
The home side set 19 in the first leg, which we managed to equal.
The next two legs saw Tiddington set again, 25 in the second and 21 in the third.
We tried to stay with them, but only managed 20 in the second Leg, the third leg saw us collapse to a miserly total of 12.
Yours truly was the Top Man with 11 Dolls.
More bad news followed as we went down in the Beer leg as well.
That's 4:2 in our favour.

The Queens reigned on SundayLast night was the rearranged fixture at home to the Queens Head, Horspath.
The Queens set all 3 legs 15,18 and 9 respectively.
We couldn't quite match them in the first 2 legs losing by just one doll in both legs.
However the 3rd Leg was a different story, chasing a meagre 9 we started of by securing the leg with only 3 players having thrown!!
The first four beat our start off record with 18 dolls between them, we totalled 26 for the leg, that was in cluding 2 Blobs!!
Top scorer was Allan Davies with 11. Though Barry ` Handbag' Harper deserves a mention for his double figure total.
More good news as we set and won in the Beer leg.
Beer Legs now 5:2 in our favour.
Next Game Fri 6th July - Red Lion Garsington away.

Home V Wheatsheaf Chinnor Fri 20th JulyWell this was the worst night of the season so far, both for scoring and conditions!! The monsoon that had lasted all Friday didn't clear up as predicted on the BBC Weather site!!
Wet weather gear was donned by all, no practice throws and straight into the game, didn't it show!!
We set the first leg, scoring 17, the Wheatsheaf replied with 15. They put us in for the Second leg and flopped with a paltry 7, lowest for us for many years , the Wheatsheaf duly passed that easily and put 17 on the board. Due to the conditions the third leg became more significant as it doubled as the Beer leg. Wheatsheaf set us 11 which we managed to beat with a total of 13. Another Beer Leg to us
thats 6 out of 8. (or 6:2)
next game Fri 27th July, away to the Crown Chalgrove

Away v Crown C Chalgrove.A decent weather match for a change.
We set the first leg and put 19 on the board which the Crown couln't quite match scoring 18.
They put us in again in the second leg and we set 18, the Crown trumped this with 20 so it was al to play for in the third.
We put the Crown in on the third leg and they set us 18, we got to needing 6 from the last 2 players, Crusher got 4 but we settled for a draw with Allans two matching the Chalgrove set at 18-18.
Overall match score was 3-3, a fair reflection on the throwing.
Good for us to have 3 consistent legs.
We set 20 in the Beer leg, the Crown replied with an equal score. Honours even. Beer leg scores now 6&1/2 for 2&1/2 against.
Crusher won bragging rights with 11 Dolls.
Yours truly was second highest with 3*3 and 3 more in the Beer leg.
Next Game Fri 3rd Aug Home game versus Bull Great Milton.

Home v Bull Gt Milton 3rd Aug.A good night all round for the B side. It must have been the weather !!
We won 3-0 and the Beer leg. Averaging 20 per leg, the highest game total this season.
Put Mick `Pirouette' Pinfolds Six in the mixer and it was a pretty good night. Mick's six was the first one for our side this season
We started off on fire with 17 from the first 4 in the first leg (including the 6), ending with a total of 23 on the board. The Bull replied with 10.
The Bull set the second leg and scored 11, we duly obliged with a total of 18.
The final leg went to us as well by a score of 19-9.
Mick and Nick top scored with 10 each.
To top the night we managed to win the Beer Leg too, that's 7 and 1/2 for, 2 and 1/2 against.

Away v Crown A Chalgrove. The points were shared at the Crown Chalgrove this week. As per the home game earlier in the Season the sides played out a 3-3 draw, this time only 3 dolls separating the teams over the 3 legs.
We set the 1st leg with 17 which the Crown managed to equal.
We set in the 2nd leg putting 19 on the board, the Crown replied with 12.
We thought we had the game sewn up when the Crown set us 16 in the 3rd leg but only manged a poor 12 in reply.
True to form the Beer leg was drawn so it was a dead heat all round.
Allan Davies was Top Dog (or Sheep) with 12, closely followed by Ted McCormack with 10. Good to see Captain Reg back in the side after being sidelined through injury.
Next Game is Fri 31st, Home to Tiddington CC.

Home V Tiddington CCWell the Tiddington CC might have the league sewn up but it didn't stop us getting the Beer leg off them
On another night we could have beaten them but we below par and lost all 3 legs.
Tiddington set all 3 legs and put 16,18 &19 on the board. We weren't far short hitting 13,14,17 in reply.
Top Banana was yours truly with 10.

Away v Queens Head Horspath Sun 2nd Sept.2 games in 3 nights saw us at the Queens Head Horspath for a rearranged fixture.
Queens Head set in all 3 legs, 17,17 and 16 being the targets.
In the first we started well with a 5 but ended needing 3 from Allan to sneak a draw.
In the second we came to life with 21 to take the lead, though my getting a blob didn't help!!
Third leg saw us fall agonisingly 1 short with 15, could this be one of the legs that cost us a medal this year???
3 Top scorers in this game, Nobber, Clive and Allan with 8 each.
We took the Beer leg too, we are now at 10 for and 3 against.
Final game this Friday 7th Sept away at Red Lion Garsington.

Away v Red Lion Garsington 7th SeptWe were off to Garsington for the final game of the season with the Oxford Mails midweek resume causing confusion as to where we might finish up in the league table!!
Captain Reg called for the Team to rally and see what we could do to finish the season off.
The Red Lion set the first Leg putting 16 on the board.
We were confident of getting this but fell 2 short and replied with 14.
Undeterred Reg put us in to set the second leg, It was only an average score until Allan Davies hit 6 off the Anchor to give us 20 in total. Red Lion were well short in reply with only 11 scored.
Third Leg and Reg won the toss again and put us in, fate in our own hands!! I started with a blob !! (nerves or no beer, not sure which )
Nick steadied the ship with a superb 6 Barry weighed in with a 4 and we were looking steady again. We manged 20 this leg even with Allan following his 6 with a Blob
This proved too strong again for the Red Lion who replied with 15.
So a 4-2 win and final league position to be confirmed.
More good fortune followed when Red Lion set us 15 in the Beer Leg, we passed it with 2 players to spare, Reg hitting the winning Doll. Even Cosmo weighed in with a 4
Top scorer on the night was Nick with a superb 12.
Beer legs for the season 10 wins 2 losses and 2 draws. Must be a net profit
Thanks to all for another enjoyable season.
