Collectors' item popular with beermat aficionados
Beermat enthusiasts have named brewer Dark Star as the winner of the Best British Beermat Set 2008.
The Sussex brewer picked up the title for a set of mats that depict a mosaic of all the brewer’s pump clips that is designed to fit together like a jigsaw.
It proved popular with aficionados an the award was handed out by the British Beermat Collectors Society last week.
Paul Reed, director of Dark Star, said: “This was a very unexpected but very welcome award to receive.
“The clips were designed to emphasise the broad range of beers that we produce and also to inform non ale drinkers of the huge variety that is available, something to suit to all tastes.
“I can understand why it has appealed to the Beermat Collectors because of the vibrant colours and the way that 24 different mats are needed to produce the whole mosaic.”
