ALMR dumps Sky from its membershipALMR dumps Sky from its membership
Trade body says it is “no longer compatible with the commercial interests of its operator members"
The Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) is to cancel satellite broadcaster Sky’s membership of its group at the end of this year.
The trade body, whose council took the decision last week, said it was on the basis that it is “no longer compatible with the commercial interests of its operator members.”
Nick Bish, chief executive of the ALMR, has been a fierce critic of Sky’s pricing policy. ALMR research released in September claimed that pubs would have to sell 25,000 extra pints over the course of a season to cover the cost of a subscription.
However Sky says its product helps pubs attract customers and increase sales.
Sky declined to comment on ALMR's decision.
