Match Report, Home Game v Black Horse Lacey Green May 2nd

The first game of the season came with little time for practice as the fixtures were sent out only 7 days prior to  the first game!!

This meant all the home players at least were throwing for the first time this season.
The Black Horse set in the first leg, posting a good 21, we could only reply with 12 our worst of the night.

Capt Reg put us straight back in and we set 15, a slight improvement. However the Black Horse passed this comfortably getting 19 in response.

Black Horse set in leg 3 hitting 17, well within our reach, the troops rallied and we got close needing 6 from the last two player. It wasn't to be as we ended up losing 17-15.

Better news in the beer leg where we set 19, which just proved a little too much for the Black Horse who ended up doing the buying Smile
Top scorer was yours truly with 10 Smile

So far 1-0 to us in Beer legs.  Looks like this will be the important statistic this year.  Next game 23rd May, away to Crown Chalgrove.

Queens Head Horspath away 30th May 2008

After the disappointment of the previous weeks game being postponed it was back to `normal' last night. We set out with only 7 players due to holiday commitments.  Rolling Eyes

Capt Reg won the toss in the first leg and put us in, we put a good 18 on the board Very Happy  , not a bad effort. The Queens (unbeaten before tonight) managed 16 in reply.

Reg won the toss again for the second leg, we hit 15 dolls, the Queens Head falling one short in reply.

Queens set the third leg, they once again got 14. It was all down to the Anchor with Allan needing 3 to win, which he duly got. Smile

The brucie bonus ws achieved when we got the beer leg as well Laughing , thats 2-0 up in Beers now Smile  Nick got a final bonus with a win in the meat raffle too.

See you next Friday, home to Tiddington Cricket Club.

Home to Tiddington CC 6th June

Well D-Day arrived and the troops responded Smile

We set all 3 legs, but things didn't start to plan.

In the first we hit 17 and were quietly confident, only for Tiddington to get 20 in reply.
2nd leg saw us go one better and set 18, the visitors fell one short on 17 to make it 1-1.
3rd leg we posted 18 again, our most consistent game so far and Tiddington fell 2 short in reply with 16.  Very Happy

Top scorers were Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti alias the the three tenors with 10 apiece(Nobber, Nick & Clive). Make your own mind up who is Pavarotti  Laughing

Beer leg was drawn so it's 2 1/2 v 1/2 so far.

Next fri, local derby, 6 bells away.

Six Bells - away, fri 13th June

An ominous date and it showed.  Confused

The local Derby went flat for us, me in particular.  Rolling Eyes
When we eventually got going, we set in the first leg but posted a poor 12
The Bells hit back with 18

This set the pattern for the game, we set twice more scoring 13 & 18, the Bells passing that with scores of 16 & 19. Last leg being the closest with the Bells anchor man just doing enough.

Top player for us was Crusher with his second consecutive 10.

Sweet revenge in the Beer leg by just shading it. About the only positive from the night!!
Thats 3 1/2 to 1/2 in Beer legs.  Wink

Next week away at Star & Garter in Thame.

Star & Garter away 20th June

Good start to the night, Reverend James beer on tap, lovely stuff. Shame it ran out, but was replaced by Tanners Jack.

We set the first leg and posted the highest score of the season for us so far with a 24. Too strong for the Star who managed 16 in reply.

We set again and put 18 up with Star getting 13 from their response.

In the final leg we went first again and dropped to 16, but this was still beyond the Star who got 12.

Top man was Allan with his second 11 of the season.

Beer leg was a bonus with us pinching that too.
thats 4 1/2 to 1/2, going well. Very Happy
Great food at the Star & Garter, best so far by a long way.

Meat raffle prizes too for some, perfect night. Laughing

Next game June 27th Home to Cricketers Warborough.

Wheatsheaf Chinnor away 4th July 2008

Great Result, 6-0, Beer Leg, and good Pizza to boot. Shame they only had IPA Sad

We set all 3 legs at the Wheatsheaf, in the first we got 18, they replied with 17 even though the last 2 men for them should have wrapped it up.

The second leg we dropped to 14 but this proved still too much as the response was only 12.

We set again in the third and ran out 15-13 winners.

We went first in the beer leg too, with the three extras playing making it 11 a side. We set 28 which was easily enough to win a pint, shame the choice was IPA or.............

Thats 5 1/2 to 1/2 in Beer legs Smile  Excellent Home made Pizza for food too.

Next Week away at Black Horse Lacey Green.

BLack Horse lacey Green away 11th July

Good win on the road again. 4-2 winners at Lacey Green.

We lost the first leg by one 18-17, second leg we stormed back with 24 to level the scores.
We sneaked the third leg too for a good 4-2 win.

Only bad point was losing the Beer leg, the first loss this season. Sad  That's 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 now

Good food and a good night out, just needed some sunshine!!

Next game is the double header at Crown Chalgrove on 25th.
nobber

Crown Chalgrove Away 25th July

The teams were almost unseparable over the night again, the spoils were shared 3-3 in the first game, Allan being highest scorer.

In the second game of the night, the Crown sneaked it 4-2, the first time either side has gained the upper hand in 4 matches, the previous 3 having been drawn (including beer legs!!)

Revenge was sweet with Masons blasting past the Crowns set in the Beer leg, Nick hitting the winning 5 dolls.
Allan was Again top scorer.

Beer legs now read 6&1/2 to 1&1/2.

next Game HOME, yes HOME to Queens Horspath on 1st Aug.
nobber

Queens Head Horspath - Home 1st Aug.

A home game at last Smile

Not the result we were hoping after having already beat the Queens head on their alley.

Queens set the first leg getting 18, we crashed to a poor 12.
With their tails up, Queens set 22 in the second, we fell short with 19, the first three didn't help by only getting one apiece!!

Capt Reg won the toss and got us in for the third leg, we set 18 which didn't seem enough, though the Queens collapsed with 13 in reply.

Top scorers were Reg (even with a blob) and Crusher.

Highlight of the night was Crushers 6 in the Beer leg, with the family watching too. This was just enough to help push us over the line. Smile

Beer leg scores 7 & 1/2 for, 1 £1/2 against.
